Advanced Optical Enhancement (AOE)


Many displays out of the box meet or exceed customer requirements but between 10-15% of displays do not.

This is where the knowledge and capability of enhancing the front and rear optical parts of the display system can make dramatic improvements to optical performance.

Our G-Bond process improves outdoor readability focusing on optical signal matching to reduce the amount of light (signal) that can be controlled and directed at the viewer, while at the same time reducing the noise (reflections) caused by the surrounding lighting conditions.

The optical bonding process is being used in an increasing number of display applications around the world. The GDS G-Bond and other AOE processes were designed for ATM and Marine applications but the process and materials were further developed to enable the process to be applied to the fast growing digital signage market.

Our sunlight readable displays have been at the forefront of sunlight readability since the mid 1990s. Designed for outdoor applications our displays can feature actively enhanced backlight systems and optically enhanced frontal glass.

Sunlight readable displays are available in sizes from 8.4" to 65".

In addition to our G-Bond and LED backlight technologies, optical enhancements include:

  • Anti-reflective glass and films
  • Laminated touch screens
  • ITO heaters for low temperature operation
  • ITO filters for EMC suppression
  • IR reflecting glass for reduction of thermal loading for outdoor displays
  • Brightness Enhancement Films
  • Diffuser reflectors
